Tosa no Okyaku
土佐のおきゃく (Tosa No Okyaku)Kochi’s week long party
Every year at the beginning of March, the entire city of Kochi turns into a party venue for a week-long festival known as Tosa no Okyaku. Blessed by the Berobero no Kamisama (drunk god), Okyaku (meaning drinking party in the local dialect) is ideal for people who like to eat, drink and be merry.
Wear silly masks while learning local dances, drink lots of sake, listen to live music, eat dinner inside a tram or whatever else your heart desires. The whole city comes alive in the beginning of spring with outdoor events, markets and tours. The frenzy and excitement that takes over the area is a special experience that everyone should have on their bucket list.
Check the Tosa no Okyaku website and social media for event dates and times to get the most out of the experience.
