Shimanto Canoeing and Camping Village Kawarakko is an autocamp site located on the banks of the beautiful Shimanto River, surrounded by abundant nature.
For campers, there are 26 grass pitches that overlook the river, with use of shared shower rooms and laundry facilities available for a small charge. A full range of camping equipment is also available for rent, providing everything you might need for night under the stars.
Several well equipped bungalows that sleep up to 5 people are also available for rent, as well as Shimanto Hinoki House, which accommodates up to 7 people and is made from locally grown hikoki (Japanese cypress) wood and showcases traditional wooden construction methods.
The gentle current in this part of the Shimanto River is perfect for beginners looking to try their hand at water sports and Shimanto Canoeing and Camping Village Kawarakko has about 100 kayaks, Canadian canoes and stand up paddle (SUP) boards available for 2.5 hour guided tours, which always include a visit to one of the Shimanto River’s iconic chinkabashi submersible bridges.
For those who would like to explore without getting their feet wet, Shimanto Canoeing and Camping Village Kawarakko is also one of the Shimanto Rin-Rin Cycle terminals, so mountain bikes are also available for rent.
