Kuroson Gorge

黒尊渓谷(Kuroson Keikoku)
A crystal clear river framed by the colors of autumn
The pure Kuroson River flows through beech forests high up in the mountains, and is the clearest tributary of Japan’s most pristine river, the 196-kilometer-long Shimanto. Kuroson Gorge is a particularly popular destination during the fall, when its crystal clear waters reflect the vibrant colors of autumn, creating a magical mirrored view. Take deep breaths as you walk along the trail, and feel the cool, clean air clear your mind. Be sure to pass by Kuroson Shrine, where you can marvel at the 40-meter-tall Japanese cedar tree that has been standing for over 500 years.
