Kashiwa Island

柏島(Kashiwa Jima)
The Island with Emerald Green Seas
On the South Western edge of Kochi Prefecture, is a tropical paradise known as Kashiwa Island. The waters are so clear that boats look like they are suspended in space. Designated as the Ashizuri Uwakai National Park, this small island is a mere 4 kilometres long and is connected to the mainland by the Kashiwajima Shin-ohashi Bridge.
Well known amongst diving enthusiasts, 1,000 of the 3,500 fish species that live around the Japanese archipelago can be found in the sublime waters and coral reefs around the island. The island also has a white sand beach for swimming and a multitude of water sports. Near the bridge on the mainland are camp grounds for camping and barbecuing with gorgeous views of the sea.
In order for everyone to enjoy the pristine beauty of Kashiwa Island please be mindful about following the rules to preserve the natural environment. We ask all visitors to help the local residents by carrying their trash off the island and only parking cars in designated parking areas. Together we can protect Kashiwa Island for generations to come.
