Tosashimizu Sakana Center - Ashizuri Kuroshio Market

土佐清水さかなセンター 足摺黒潮市場 (Tosashimizusakanasenta Ashizurikuroshioichiba)
Bonito searing and more at Ashizuri Kuroshio Market
The Ashizuri Kuroshio Market in the Tosashimizu Sakana Center is the ideal place to purchase or taste an array of exceptional seafood provided by the bustling local fishing industry or Tosashimizu City.
Located at the edge of natural lagoon that connects to the Pacific Ocean, visitors to the Center can choose to make there own katsuo no tataki (seared bonito). The activity is by reservation only and guests can also opt to learn how to filet the fish before searing it over an open straw flame on the deck overlooking the water.
Bonito is commonly prepared in this way to remove the fishy smell while keeping the center of the fish tender. The seared bonito can be packed to take home or guests can complete their training by slicing and eating the fish at the restaurant with condiments ranging from tomatoes and lemons, to onion, garlic, spring onions and ginger.
The Center also has an assortment of local fares and products made with locally grown ingredients including a custom sauce developed specifically for dipping katsuo no tataki.
