Tamematsu Park (Nakamura)

為松公園(Tamematsu Kouen)
A mountain-top park with 500 cherry trees overlooking the blue Shimanto River
Tamematsu Park sits atop a mountain on the west side of Shimanto City, where you will find the magical pinkish white of over 500 cherry trees perfectly framed by the lush green mountains, lively cityscape, and pristine blue waters of the Shimanto River. During peak bloom, the cherry trees are lit up by Japanese lanterns at night, offering you a whole different side to their beauty compared to during the day.
Take a stroll around the park, and you will find the Shimanto City Museum, which resembles the exterior of a traditional Japanese castle (it’s impossible to miss!). Here, you can learn about how the region’s history and culture has always been intricately linked with the Shimanto River, which continues to serve as the source of livelihood for the local community.
