Family-friendly lakeside camping with great facilities at Lake Sameura
Sameura Tent Park is one of a number of leisure facilities located at Lake Sameura, a peaceful outdoor getaway just under an hour north of Kochi City by car. The lake was created by the construction of Shikoku’s largest dam which stands 106m tall; an impressive piece of modern engineering and worthy of a visit in itself.
Sameura Tent Park is located in a picturesque spot that overlooks the lake from above. 3 family sites have commanding views of the lake and provide the best views of the night sky right from your tent. Other solo sites are located in shady parts of the forest. All sites have power outlets and Free WiFi is available. Toilets (with heated seats) and shower facilities are clean and well maintained and there is no extra charge for hot water.
Outdoor activities on offer here include canoeing and stand up paddle boarding (SUP) on the calm waters of the lake that are great for children and beginners friendly and rental bicycles, all of choice can be booked at Sameura Canoe Terrace. Another, more leisurely activity is stargazing, and camping overnight gives you the best opportunity to enjoy the night skies that are largely free from light pollution.
Sameura Canoe Terrace, down by the lakeside, is the place to book activities and has a very pleasant cafe open from 10am to 5pm. More substantial fare is served in the restaurant in the nearby Sameuraso Lakeside Hotel which serves umami-packed cuts of beef from the 500 head of Tosa Akaushi raised locally each year.
