Nishikiyama CC in the village of Hidaka is one of Kochi’s legacy golf courses, which makes use of the hilly terrain to create a unique golf experience. The Manila grass-covered green gives golfers a fun challenge, as the grass texture makes judging inclines and distances just a bit trickier. During the spring the cherry trees around the course bloom light pink, followed by bright rhododendrons in early summer and cosmos in autumn, adding a touch of seasonal splendor to a day on the links.
A featured hole is number 16 (par 4), an over the pond challenge. You should hit your tee shot around 180 yards to set up, so your second shot would be 160 yards to go over the pond and approach the hole. The green has significant undulations, adding to the level of difficulty.
Besides the course, the country club is also known for the sumptuous lunch offered between nines in the spacious club house, and during the spring special cherry blossom-themed desserts are served in the restaurant. Enjoy a post-play bath and maybe pick up some golf goods in the well-stocked pro shop.
