Katsurahama Aquarium

桂浜水族館(Katsurahama suizokukan)
Kochi's Charming Activity filled Aquarium
This quaint aquarium founded in 1931 beloved by local residents is rich with local flavour and carries historic significance in Kochi Prefecture and Katsurahama. It is a charming, intimate space where adults, children, and
pets (!) can interact with the aquarium animals.
At the entrance visitors are greeted by a doctor fish pond and inside there is a clown fish touching pool — the only one Japan. Other unique experiences include feeding a pair of African spurred tortoises as well as penguins, otters, sea turtles and capybaras.
The Aquarium also has the largest school of akame fish (Japanese lates). Named after the way their eyes shine red when exposed to light, the aquarium tank that houses this impressive school is also equipped with an “eye sparkle light,” and when used a swarm of red eyes can be seen gazing out of the tank.
