Get a sense of the geological activity of Earth
The Muroto Peninsula was certified as part of the Global Geopark Network in 2011. There are still areas where the ground continues to rise; it's an area where you can really feel the dynamics of the earth. At Cape Hane, you can walk through rock formations that were once a part of the sea floor and even see fossils. Meanwhile at Cape Muroto, you can walk along paths surrounded by subtropical plants in an area that was also once part of the sea floor.

To get the most out of your visit to the Muroto UNESCO Global Geopark, first head to the Muroto Global Geopark Center. Here, you can learn about the formation of Muroto, nature, history, and culture through displays and exhibits. Another great way to explore Muroto is by bicycle, which are available for rent. Guided tours in English are also available.
