Muroto Global Geopark Center
室戸世界ジオパークセンター(Muroto Sekai Jiopaku Senta)Get a sense of the geological activity of Earth
The Muroto Peninsula was certified as part of the Global Geopark Network in 2011. There are still areas where the ground continues to rise; it's an area where you can really feel the dynamics of the earth. At Cape Hane, you can walk through rock formations that were once a part of the sea floor and even see fossils. Meanwhile at Cape Muroto, you can walk along paths surrounded by subtropical plants in an area that was also once part of the sea floor.
