Bamboo lantern festival in winter

Geisei Village has held this heart-warming event every winter since 2014. Every lantern is handcrafted by  locals using bamboo from abandoned groves. They cut around 150 stalks of bamboo and carve each pattern by hand. The warmth of the light and glowing patterns will make you feel cozy and forget about the cold weather

This event used to be held at Kotogahama Beach, where you could enjoy the sound of the ocean with the lanterns for one night. This year, the staff made it happen at the Royal Hotel TOSA for over a month!
