Tea break at a retro Japanese house

Torataro Yoshimura was a pioneer of the Meiji Restoration. At the age of 25, he left his clan (risking his life!) and pushed to overthrow the shogunate so Japan could modernize⚔️

This house is Torataro’s birthplace, which has been renovated into a ""casual museum."" You can see related items like the replicas of his samurai helmet, and you can learn more about his life story. In winter, kotatsu tables (low table with futon blanket and a heater underneath) are set up in the bright tatami room, so you can sit and have a cup of hot tea and a beautiful traditional sweet (500 yen) or udon noodles with freshly fried tempura (550 yen)! If you reserve three days before visiting, you can try the beautiful Torataro-gozen set meal (1200 yen) made with local ingredients

This place is also a hidden gem for digital nomads because they have free Wi-Fi, fresh air from wide windows, and most of all, Torataro’s passion will make you feel inspired and motivated

Torataro Yoshimura’s Residence is a 20-minute drive away from Yusuhara Town

Do you want some outdoor activities after immersing yourself in history? Forest Adventure is just a 10-minute drive away from Torataro Yoshimura’s Residence! :https://visitkochijapan.com/en/topics/760
