Monet’s Garden

Naturally Kochi: Monet’s Garden

Drawing on the inspirational landscape created by artist Claude Monet in his home of Giverny, France, the village of Kitagawa in eastern Kochi has replicated its own Monet-style garden. Interestingly, the site in Kitagawa is the only one of its kind outside of France allowed to bear the name Monet’s garden.

Divided into three parts – a water garden, a flower garden and a light garden – the site boasts 70,000 plants and seasonal blooms, with a particular highlight being the blue water lilies that flower between June and late October. Come autumn, the maples hanging over the pond turn a stunning shade of crimson.
