Kochi Prefecture produces over 50% of Japan’s crop of yuzu, a citrus fruit known for its aroma and many culinary uses. Yuzu grows best in mountainous terrain, and orchards dot the rocky hillsides of eastern Kochi.

A visit to Yuzu no Mori, a yuzu factory in the secluded village of Umaji, showcases the multiple uses of the popular fruit, from juice and jams through to alcoholic drinks and even body care products.
