Witness Niyodo Blue at a sacred spot

Nikobuchi is the perfect place to witness the phenomenon known as Niyodo Blue–the surreal sapphire and emerald hues of the crystal-clear Niyodo River. It is located in a valley surrounded by lush trees just over an hour from Kochi City by car and may take some effort to reach, but the glorious sight makes every second of the journey worth it

Fun fact! According to an old legend, Nikobuchi is home to a serpent-shaped incarnation of the water god. Locals consider this place sacred, which is why swimming in the pool is prohibited and all visitors must behave respectfully
