The beautiful town of Tsuno (west of Kochi City) is home to one of my favorite hidden gems, especially around this time of year. It’s where colorful carp swim gracefully in a body of water so clear that they look like they’re hovering in the air. Hakuryu Lake is in fact manmade on private property, but the owner has kindly made it available for everyone to enjoy. Come witness the collaboration of the sapphire water and fiery autumn leaves for yourself
Just 5 minutes by car from Hakuryu Lake is another glorious fall spot worth visiting. Not only does Cafe Ichou no Ki serve delicious meals such as their specialty udon noodles, but also, there is an enormous, free-standing gingko tree which brings you that full autumn immersion
