World-class diving in Kochi

Kochi may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of must-visit diving spots in Japan but you will absolutely find crystal-clear waters that’ll make any ocean-lover want to jump right in!

Did you know that Kashiwa Island (located at the southwestern edge of Kochi) is home to one third of all fish species you’ll find across Japan? That’s about 1,000 different species living in the coral reefs offshore!

Whether you’re an experienced diver or adventurous beginner looking to get your feet wet (no pun intended), Smiley Dive is a great diving service! They also offer an accommodation option to couple with your diving experience

As you might expect, the seafood on Kashiwa Island is excellent. I highly recommend heading to Uogokoro and trying their famous sea bream bowl. Thick cuts of fresh sea bream are laid on fluffy rice and topped with dried seaweed, creamy raw egg, and a specialty sauce that combines marvelously. You can also stay overnight at Uogokoro in their traditional Japanese-style room that accommodates up to eight guests, facing the stunning harbor
