A treehouse cafe run by a 10-year-old? YEP

Built on a 150-year-old tree and run by the most awesome 10-year-old named Koto Kawakami (goes by Manager Kocchan) and her parents, Tree House Cafe Perch (@ツリーハウスカフェ perch) would make an epic contender if there was an award for most original cafes in Japan! I highly recommend this place for lunch (#editorschoice) especially if you're headed to Nikobuchi–the must-visit, crystal-clear plunge pool and waterfall just 15 minutes away from the cafe by car

The tree house was originally built several years ago by Kocchan’s grandfather who wanted to give her a fun place to play. Later on though, the family decided to open its doors and share the joy of this fantastical spot with others, which will surely bring back anybody’s giddy inner child

Around one hour from Kochi City by car and open on weekends (when Manager Kocchan doesn’t have school), Tree House Cafe Perch is not only home to cozy vibes–a comfortable couch, fluffy pillows, soft carpet, and even a fireplace–but also, a glorious sight of the Niyodo River and surrounding landscape that changes beautifully with the seasons. Not to mention...delicious food too!

The homemade burger in particular is my favorite! The free-range egg collaborates beautifully with the sweet, locally-grown onion and perfectly-seasoned patty, as well as the secret sauce that uses a special honey called yamamitsu. It adds a delicate yet rich flavor that takes the burger to another level
