The perfect season for the Shikoku 88 temple pilgrimage has come

In Kochi, the average temperature in April is around 16℃, which is perfect for a long walk! Since spring is the best season to take on the Ohenro (pilgrimage), you can meet many fellow pilgrims from all over Japan and make friends! The fresh green and flowers will add a touch of color throughout your journey too

The Shikoku 88 pilgrimage is very flexible and inclusive. It’s not necessary to trek to every single one of the 88 temples in Shikoku to be mindful and find calmness within. You don't have to walk, an instead can use trains, buses, cars (even bikes!) to move around, and people from any religion are welcome

Here are 10 Buddhist values called ‘juzenkai’ which those on the Ohenro are urged to keep in mind✨

不殺生 (fusessho): Do not harm any creature. Respect all life.
不偸盗 (fuchutou): Do not steal.
不邪婬 (fujain): Do not have any unethical relationships.
不妄語 (fumougo): Do not tell lies.
不綺語 (fukigo): Do not give empty compliments.
不悪口 (fuakku): Do not talk badly about others.
不両舌 (furyouzetsu): Do not change what you say depending on who you are talking to.
不慳貪 (fukendon): Do not be greedy.
不瞋恚 (fushinni): Do not let anger take over. Practice kindness.
不邪見 (fujakenn): Do not cling on to the wrong values.

We hope you will take part in this beautiful adventure through nature and your mind
