Ashizuri・Tosashimizu by E-bike

足摺・土佐清水 by E-bike (Ashizuri ・ Tosashimizu by E-bike)
Discover some of the most dramatic scenery in Japan and unearth local culture, under your own steam, by E-bike.
Tosashimizu is home to some of Japan’s most stunning coastal scenery. Pacific Ocean views from the top of incredible rocky cliffs stretch to a seemingly infinite horizon, so far that it is said that you can perceive the curvature of the earth. Here, you will also find small villages like Matsuo which have made a living from the bounty of the sea that the Kuroshio (Japan Current) brings close to these shores, hidden shrines, beaches that attract surfers and nesting sea turtles, prehistoric megaliths, and bizarre geological formations that date from the formation of the Japanese archipelago.

Many of these attractions can be taken in as part of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage which makes a circuit of the Ashizuri Peninsular, at the tip of which Temple Number 38, Kongofukuji is located, or, of course, by car.

Tosashimizu City’s E-bike rental service, however, makes the region’s attractions accessible to visitors using public transport or who just prefer to take a break from driving and explore under their own steam.

E-bikes allow even beginner cyclists to cover a lot of ground. Hillier roads are more manageable and they make it easier for mixed ability groups to ride together. Tosashimizu City has made a fleet of such bikes available for rent from hotels and tourist facilities in and around Cape Ashizuri, which is an excellent base from which to explore the Ashizuri Peninsular and Tatsukushi Marine Park.
