Rain or shine, come on board the Yakatabune Shimanto-no-Ao

From sitting on the edge of the chinkabashi and dangling your feet over one of Japan’s clearest rivers, to splashing around in the emerald green water, there are many ways of enjoying these submersible bridges, which have become symbols of the Shimanto area. One activity we highly recommend is to hop on a yakatabune, traditional roofed leisure boats that have been used in Japan for over 1,000 years

Shimanto-no-Ao's yakatabune offers the longest cruise along the river and takes you under two beautiful chinkabashi: Misato and Sada. You can also savor mouthwatering eel or sweetfish, which are sourced straight from the river and charcoal-grilled onboard!

There is something very special about breathing in the clean air, feeling the cool water with your hands, and looking up at the mountains from river
