Konomine-ji: Kochi's toughest temple!

Konomine-ji is the 27th temple on the Shikoku 88 temple pilgrimage, and is considered one of the most challenging temples to reach. Why? Well, it is located 632m above sea level, and the main path is over 1km long with a 45 degree slope! But don't worry, on the temple grounds there is a spring that flows out of two rocks that is said to have healing powers, exactly what you need after a tough trek. For hikers who want to take on the challenge, you can reach this spot by taking the train to Tonohama Station and then hiking just over 4km.
