Sunday: the best day to visit Kochi City?!

If you want to know the best way to enjoy a day in Kochi's capital city, we have you covered!
・Start your morning with a visit to Kochi Castle (be sure to climb to the very top for a full view of the city). If you are lucky you might catch a glimpse of the long-tailed chickens who occasionally strut through the gardens.
・If it is a Sunday, stroll down to the foot of the castle and straight into the Sunday Market, which has been held for the last 300 years. Be sure to come hungry, as there are tons of tasty specialties to try, such as freshly fried imoten (fluffy sweet potato tempura), inaka zushi (veggie-based country-style sushi), drinks and sweets made with local yuzu citrus fruit, and tiny sweet “fruit tomatoes.”
・Snack as you make your way to Harimaya Bridge, then hop on the bus and head over to nearby Mt.Godai, home to both the flower-filled Makino Botanical Garden and serene Chikurin-ji Temple, the 31st temple of the long Shikoku 88 temple pilgrimage.
・Another quick bus ride will take you to Katsurahama Beach, where a massive statue of the samurai and Meiji reformer Ryoma Sakamoto watches over a landscape of pines and waves. A museum dedicated to this famous Kochiite is also nearby.
・Once the sun goes down, head to Hirome Market to end your day in true Kochi style: with a glass of local sake and a big plate of katsuo no tataki (seared bonito) at the friendly communal tables of this food stall heaven!
