Kochi's Flaff flags

March is the best month for making Flaff flags, "Furafu" in Japanese, a typical product from Eastern Kochi, for the Boy's Festival in May.

Flaffs are minimum 1m wide, and can also be very big in size. They are beautiful flags that you can only find in Kochi!

They are not sold as souvenirs, but it is customary to have them made in the workshop in the hope that when a boy is born he will grow up strong and healthy.

Here are the main opportunities to see the Flaffs:
Boys' festival in May, with carp streamers
Yosakoi festival in August

You may be able to find them also in shopping streets and public spaces in Kochi Prefecture.
