The Camellia Japonica, "Tsubaki" in Japanese, on Kochi's Cape Ashizuri!
From late January to the end of February, the Ashizuri peninsula turns bright red as 150,000 Camellia trees are in full bloom!
On the tip of the cape you can find 60,000 Camellia trees and the white lighthouse, standing in front of the vast azure Pacific Ocean.
Indulge in a moment of bliss with the beautiful flowers and ocean view, lulled by the sea breeze.
A "Camellia tunnel" of 2km will then wait for you near Ashizuri Kongofukuji Temple.
Since ancient times, Japan has a culture of sacred evergreen plants. Camellia is one of them, and it is planted in Shrines, Temples, and near houses to dispel the evil.
If you come to Kochi during this season, do not forget to enjoy yourself surrounded by sacred camellia.
