Though spring may be the most emblematic season in Japan with its sakura, Japanese autumn is also famous for its extraordinary warm colors. Kochi’s autumn foliage is no exception.
One of the best places to enjoy Momiji in Kochi is Befu Gorge. The beauty of the white mountain rocks contrasted with the autumn colors of leaves makes it look like a magical world.
Yasui Gorge is another wonder where visitors can enjoy autumn foliage harmoniously combined with the crystal-clear waters of Niyodo River.
There are also many other remarkable spots to enjoy momiji such as the gardens of the majestic Chikurin-ji, Kitagawa Village “Monet’s Garden” Marmottan, the only Monet’s garden created outside of France, Jofuku-ji Temple, and Nishikuma Gorge.
