Today, we would like to introduce Tosa no Hojosai, Kochi’s autumn harvest festival. During this season, the people of Kochi express their thanks for the year’s bounty, and their feelings of gratitude culminate into a celebration of food that takes place at various venues between September and November.
According to a survey conducted by a major travel agency, Kochi ranked #1 under the category of “largest variety of delicious local foods” for the third year in a row, making it a certified “land of delicious cuisine”.
Kochi is blessed with an abundance of seasonal ingredients during autumn, from katsuo (bonito) and Tosa akaushi (beef from the Japanese breed of cattle of the same name) to newly harvested rice , fruits , mushrooms and sake.
During Tosa no Hojosai, across the prefecture, people can indulge in the delicious flavors of Kochi’s autumn dishes, and enjoy them like the locals do!
