Tosa Washi
Tosa Washi is a type of traditional Japanese paper made in Tosa and Ino, in Kochi Prefecture. It was commonly used in the past as a holder for wallets or paper lanterns, but has now a wide range of uses, such as restoration of cultural properties. World-renown masterpieces such as Michelangelo's wall paintings in the Vatican or works exhibited in the Louvre Museum in Paris have been restored with this paper!
Such a high quality of paper is due to the fact that kouzo and gampi, the Japanese plants used for its creation, grow amidst the crystal clear waters of the Niyodogawa River and mountains.
