Kiragawa cityscape

The town of Kiragawa lies along the coast of Kochi, in an area frequented by typhoons. As such, the forebears of the town designed their buildings with white plastered walls, and used special techniques to create sturdy walled-fences of stone and roof tiles. Not so well known among foreign travelers, Kiragawa has managed to retain its old time feel, and visitors today can walk through the town and admire the ingenuity and traditional design. Take a break from your town stroll by popping into one of the repurposed traditional Japanese houses.

Directions: Short walk from Kiragawa Gakko Dori bus stop (Kochi Tobu Kotsu Bus)
