River stream for carp streamers

For about a month from early April, when the surrounding mountains are flush with the new green of spring, over 500 colourful koi carp streamers from Kochi, and all across the country, are draped across the Shimanto River. This custom actually began about 40 years ago by locals wishing for the good health and growth of their children. The local children look so happy when they gaze up at the koi carp streamers swimming so high in the sky! This impressive display is sure to have a positive impact on visitors too!
