Shimanto River and cherry blossoms–a magical combo
In Kochi, there are numerous places to enjoy the beauty of cherry blossoms, one of which is the Shimanto Sakurazutsumi Park in Nyuta. This park not only offers magical views of the crystal-clear Shimanto River collaborating with rows of soft pink cherry trees (that reach peak bloom from around late March to early April), but also, the perfect grassy banks to have a picnic
In fact, picnics enjoyed under and around cherry trees are linked to the centuries-old spring tradition in Japan called hanami (literally translates to ‘flower watching’–how wholesome is that)! All you have to do is bring a picnic sheet to sit on, some of your favorite foods, snacks and drinks, as well as lovely company (although of course, doing it solo is great too)
