Who is excited for the cherry blossom season soon to come? (ME)
The Horikawa Canal in Kochi City is one of my favorite places for hanami–a centuries-old tradition in Japan that is all about taking in the beauty of the soft pink flowers typically by having a picnic (the word literally translates to ‘flower-watching’). Usually between late March and early April, over 120 cherry trees bloom on either bank of the canal for about a kilometer
For your inspiration, here are three ways you could enjoy your Horikawa Canal hanami experience
Bring a couple onigiri (rice balls) and yummy snacks for an epic spring picnic
Take a stroll under the tunnel of cherry blossoms along the banks
Hop on one of the colorful sightseeing boats to see the cherry trees from a different angle
