Spring is just around the corner and although cherry blossoms may be the most famous in Japan around this time, we must not forget about the stunning canola flowers! At Nyuta Willow Forest located along the crystal-clear Shimanto River, you will not only find a sea of these golden flowers, but also, local vendors and food stands that pop up every weekend during the festival period between February 23rd and March 10th this year!
Looking for a retro cafe to relax and unwind after the beautiful spring stroll at Nyuta Willow Forest? Cafe Watch is definitely your spot (please note that until late February, they are only offering takeout for coffees, lattes, sandwiches and baked goods)
Last but not least, shoutout to the talented Instagram user @tokyo2020xx for not only capturing a beautiful meadow of canola flowers, but also, the idyllic scenery in collaboration with one of my favorite local trains in Kochi…the Kappa Uyo-uyo Kaiyodo Hobby Train! The theme of the train is kappa, one of the most famous magical creatures from old Japanese folklore, and yes, it is the best kind of quirky
