Wake up right next to one of Japan’s last remaining castles

My favorite time to take a stroll around Kochi Castle is in the early morning. There is something extra special about being awake before most people in the city, exchanging friendly ‘ohayo gozaimasu (good morning)!’ with fellow early birds, and witnessing the sun’s warm glow begin to spill upon the 400-year-old structure. However, it may be easy to miss this golden time if you’re not a morning person, in which case, I recommend staying at Sansuien, a traditional ryokan inn located just 8 minutes from Kochi Castle on foot

Besides the natural hot springs that have numerous health benefits (relieving muscle pain, fatigue, joint stiffness, etc.), Sansuien offers stunning Japanese or western-style rooms, and top-notch feasts that showcase the flavors of Kochi at its finest
