There is simply the rose

Have you ever heard of this quote by American essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson? With more context, his writing goes...

“The roses under my window make no reference to former roses or better ones; they are what they are; they exist with God today. There is no time to them. There is simply the rose; it is perfect in every moment of its existence.”

In a world fueled by comparison, Emerson reminds us that each of us are perfect just the way we are. Perhaps nothing is more important than simply being mindful of the moment we have right now

I entertain these thoughts as I walk around Monet’s Garden Marmottan in Kitagawa Village and take in the beauty of the roses now in bloom (until around early June). Surrounded by the summery melodies of nature, this is my favorite place to refresh my mind, heart and...tummy!

Restaurant La maison de Monet (Monet’s house) offers nourishing meals featuring local, seasonal ingredients! There’s also a vegan option for those with any dietary preferences or needs

This gorgeous garden–the only one in the world recognized by the Claude Monet Foundation (besides the original one in Giverny)–has been bringing Monet’s masterpieces to life for more than 20 years! Definitely come visit if you can, and remember…you too, are perfect in every moment of your existence!
