Sunday picnic at Kochi Castle

Summer is here and it’s really heating up in Kochi! While it’s important not to overdo it, perhaps one way to get through the summer is to embrace the heat rather than fight it

One pro tip is to head out early in the morning so you can enjoy relatively cool temperatures before the sun is too high in the sky. Luckily, Kochi City’s beloved Sunday Market is open from 6AM so you can fill up a basket with local, fresh (and cooling) goodies for an early-morning picnic!

Watermelon is a classic Japanese summer treat that’s usually eaten at the beach, but who says you can’t enjoy it in a shade beside one of Japan’s last remaining original castles? Yep, Sunday Market is located right beside 400-year-old Kochi Castle, which is certainly our recommended spot for a laid-back weekend picnic

Spring is also a glorious time to have a picnic at Kochi Castle, when over 200 cherry trees bloom!
