Theme park? Retro cafe? Nope, train!

“Shikoku Tosa Toki no Yoakeno Monogatari” (meaning “Tale of the Dawn of an Era”) is a two-car luxury train that takes you between Kochi and Kubokawa stations. During the over 2.5-hour journey, you’ll witness beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean, crystal-clear Niyodo River, Kochi’s charming countryside, retro towns, and more!????

To get the most out of the experience, we highly recommend reserving one of the onboard meals in advance, which includes a range of local Kochi ingredients. Fun fact! The meal on the Kochi-bound train is served in a bento box made of local Shimanto cypress wood. Handmade washi (traditional Japanese paper) from Ino Town is also used for the coasters, cup holders and lampshades. The details are all meticulously thought through to bring you an authentic Kochi experience????????

The meal you see in the photo is served on the Kubokawa-bound train! It’s inspired by Kochi’s traditional sawachi cuisine, which is a platter-style meal consisting of various dishes like bonito sashimi, Shimanto pork, stir-fried vegetables, tender beef, and more! It's such a luxurious way to enjoy the diverse tastes of Kochi all at once????

One of the most delightful and unique aspects of riding this train are the heart-warming interactions with locals. At every train stop (only three in total from Kochi to Kubokawa), station staff will welcome you as you hop out to enjoy the surrounding view! Keep your eyes out during the train ride too, as you might see some cyclists or friendly locals waving and sending good vibes for your journey ahead????????

Come onboard and kickstart your special train adventure☀️

???? The one-way ticket from Kochi to Kubokawa costs 3,970 yen (extra cost for meals)
