400-year-old castle and 200 cherry trees…a glorious combo!

Perhaps it's around this time of year that Kochi Castle looks most striking!

Kochi’s castle is the only one in Japan to have the original tenshu (main keep) and palace where the local daimyo (feudal lord) would live. Although magnificent on its own, Kochi Castle emanates a different kind of beauty when it’s surrounded by the pink glow of over 200 cherry trees between late March and early April

The contrast of the castle’s bold architecture featuring statues of shachi sea creatures (half fish, half dragon) and the softness of the cherry blossoms makes for a truly mesmerizing sight

Definitely stop by for a magical evening stroll when the castle grounds are lit up by the cozy glow of lanterns
