Seasons of chinkabashi bridges

There are many chinkabashi (submersible bridges) across the Shimanto River, and they are important parts of the iconic scenery of the river. But did you know that you can have a different experience at the chinkabashi each season?

In the spring, when the flowers bloom, walking along the river will give you so much joy, but the best part is the harmony of the birdsong and the sound of the water flowing by. Since the bridges are surrounded by mountains, you hear multiple birds singing, like bush warblers or brown-eared bulbuls. The middle of the chinkabashi is the best seat in the house for nature's concerts

In summer, you can join the locals and wade into the cool river near the bridge! It might be the best season to visit if you are willing to get wet, dive into nature, and feel like a kid again
