Mitaru Gongen Waterfall: A hidden gem nestled in Kochi’s mountains

The saying goes, “seeing is believing”, but you might not be able to believe your eyes when you’re standing there beside the surreal crystal-clear water glimmering in every shade of blue to emerald green

Although Nikobuchi might be the most well-known waterfall basin in Kochi, it is certainly not the only one

Mitaru Gongen Waterfall is located in the town of Tosa, about 1.5 hours from Kochi City by car, and offers an equally magical experience as Nikobuchi. A quick 10-minute walk through the lush forest, past an old shrine, is the star-shaped Mitaru Gongen basin. On clear days, you will find pockets of sunlight twinkling on the gentle ripples
