Enjoy the frisson-causing screen paintings of 19th century artist Ekin at the Ekin Museum, located in the seaside town of Akaoka, less than an hour away from Kochi Station by train
Once you enter the museum, you will be handed a paper lantern, which will help guide you through the darkened rooms that display 23 reproductions the Kochi-born artist’s screen paintings, characterized by fierce battle scenes and lurking demons Experience the art as it would have been seen in Ekin's time!
Although it was cancelled this year, we hope you get to experience the annual Tosa Akaoka Ekin Festival one day, where the screens are displayed along the town’s streets, and brought to life by the mystical glow of paper lanterns and candles
