Looking for your dream home? How would you fancy living in this elegant gem, which once belonged to the Goto family?

This pretty samurai house is one of many in Aki, a former castle town on the eastern side of Kochi. In the Doi Kachu area you can explore lanes lined with traditional houses and attractive bamboo walls. The highest-ranking samurai lived in front of the castle hill, while lower-ranked samurai has homes along the sides of the hill. Some of the houses are open to visitors, so you can get a taste of the samurai's home life!

Be sure to also check out the ruins of Aki Castle and the Nora Dokei field clock, which has become Aki's most iconic sightseeing spot: https://visitkochijapan.com/en/see-and-do/10006

Getting to Aki from central Kochi City is easy, as there are regular trains that connect Kochi Station and Aki Station, taking just over an hour and passing by some rather spectacular coastal views on the way.
