The beautiful hike on Mount Kamegamori
With the arrival of spring, the UFO Line, also called Kamegamori road, opens its doors to visitors after its winter break! Through the UFO Line you can access the trailhead of Mount Kamegamori, which with its altitude of 1897m is the 5th highest mountain in Shikoku and the 7th highest in western Japan. With its beautiful scenery, it is a very popular destination, especially for beginners, because despite its altitude it can be climbed in just one hour without special equipment!
While climbing, you can have a look at the amazing scenery with the rocky peaks of Mount Ishizuchi, and if you are lucky, a sea of clouds will occur with the mount floating above it like a garden in the sky. To experience the sea of clouds, we recommended coming early in the morning. Kamegamori has two peaks, the rocky "Oyama" and the gentle "Meyama". The mountain trail that runs through the two peaks is a two-hour course, either clockwise or counterclockwise. If you decide to go counterclockwise from Oyama, you will encounter steep slopes when climbing and gentle ones when descending, which is recommended.
Mount Kamegamori is definitely the perfect place to experience Kochi's nature at its fullest, and also take breathtaking pictures! The mountain lodge "Shirasa", located 5 kilometers from kamegamori's mountain trail will reopen in April. It will be a great chance to take your time and explore the mount.
