Experience traditional or modern Japan at Mima Ryokan!
Have you ever been to a traditional Japanese inn? If not, you definitely should go to Mima Ryokan when you visit Kochi!
Mima Ryokan's inn was established in Shimanto Town in 1891.
Local wood was used for its structure and interior design, as well as for the renovated main building dining room, with the help of the prefecture.
It is now a long-established inn where important literary and financial figures such as the writer Fumiko Hayashi stayed.
Mima Ryokan actually owns 2 buildings: the historic main building, that managed to preserve an old traditional Japanese style, and a modern Japanese-style wooden hotel called "Mima Ryokan Hanare Ki no Hotel" that opened in 2018.
The lobby, which has a large glass-opening, includes a small library and a gallery.
There is also a small museum, where guests can admire works by Imanishi Nakamichi, a painter from Kubokawa.
If you had the opportunity to go to Mima Ryokan, would you choose to stay at the historic main inn or at the newly-open hotel?
