Discover Japanese painting at Tosa Akaoka Ekin Museum
Hirose Kinzo, also known as Ekin, was a Japanese painter from Kochi whose art used to entertain common people during the 19th century.
To pay tribute to him, Ekin festival started in Akaoka in 1977. Thanks to this festival held every year in July, visitors have the great chance to discover Ekin's pictures displayed along the street front of the shopping district.
A Kabuki spectacle is also organized on the same day to reconstitute the images depicted in Ekin’s pictures.
