Kochi is one of four prefectures on the island of Shikoku located in southern Japan. Home to idyllic rural landscapes, pristine nature perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, ancient pilgrimage trails, friendly locals, mind-blowingly delicious cuisine, and more, Shikoku is a side of Japan you wouldn’t want to miss during your visit. Plus, the ALL SHIKOKU Rail Pass makes traveling around the island easy and affordable! Below is some basic information
Who can buy and use the ALL SHIKOKU Rail Pass?
Anyone with a non-Japanese passport is eligible.
What’s the pass like in a nutshell?
Essentially, you get unlimited rides on most trains in Shikoku (there are just a few exceptions) for a number of consecutive days. You can choose from a 3, 4, 5 or 7-day pass, which ranges from 12,000 yen to 20,000 yen per adult if you purchase from overseas. The pass also covers the Shodoshima Ferry and Olive Bus line.
How to purchase the pass?
There are several ways, including buying it online via the JR-WEST ONLINE TRAIN RESERVATION or at one of the partner travel agency locations overseas near you. In either of these cases, you will have to receive your physical pass after arriving in Japan at select locations like Kochi, Tokushima, Matsuyama, and Takamatsu stations. Alternatively, you can buy the pass directly at one of the select locations in Japan. Note that you get a 500 yen discount if you purchase the pass from overseas.
There are other benefits of the ALL SHIKOKU Rail Pass like getting discounts on the Nangoku Express Bus between Matsuyama and Kochi, as well as the Nankai Ferry between Tokushima and Wakayama ports!????
