Coffee and cake in an over 160-year-old gem

Gendaikigyosha has a well-deserved reputation for establishing a network of 15 different cafes, restaurants and stores, each with a unique identity. For example, retro Cafe Mephistopheles in Kochi City has a traditional European aesthetic such as a red-brick exterior decorated with fantastical characters and motifs. Another location in Kochi City (and today’s main topic) is Tosamizuki, which has completely different yet equally intriguing vibe

Inside the over 160-year-old traditional Japanese-style building, you will find a selection of antique cutlery, plates and other vintage products on sale (some of which are even brought all the way from France????????), as well as a cafe space in the annex. The blend of traditional Japanese design and modern rustic chic creates a space that oozes comfort, and is frankly…hard to leave! The delicious coffee and cake doesn't make it much easier either!
