Located just over an hour from Kochi City by car, the impressive 106-meter tall Sameura Dam is home to over 2,000 cherry trees that gloriously bloom from late March to early April
Cherry blossoms and dams might not be the most common combination but trust us…it’s absolutely magnificent. We also recommend renting bicycles for a beautiful spring ride around Lake Sameura, which is the dam’s reservoir
After some good exercise, how about some melt-in-your-mouth Tosa Akaushi wagyu beef?
At Sameura BBQ Terrace, located a quick 10-minute drive from the dam, you can grill your own Tosa Akaushi beef, which is only produced in Kochi and limited to about 500 cattle per year! This rare, local beef is said to have two to four times the sweetness and umami of the more common black-haired wagyu. One bite and you’re sure to understand why it’s nicknamed “miracle beef""
The standard price for the barbecue is 3,500 yen per person, which comes with a few different cuts of Tosa Akaushi beef, rice balls and vegetables, as well as salt and pepper. If you think that might not be enough, feel free to bring more of your favorite ingredients to grill
Visit Sameura for a unique (and delicious!) spring experience
