The magical harmony of Niyodo blue and cherry blossom pink

The Niyodo River, famous for its miraculously blue color, is beautiful on its own. However, during the spring, the river looks even more magical than usual, surrounded by pink, blossoming cherry trees✨ 

We highly recommend exploring the Ikegawa Fureai Park area, where cherry trees bloom along 800 meters of the Doi River (a tributary of the Niyodo River) between late March and early April. The area looks straight out of a fairytale, especially with the different-colored houses adorably stacked together along the river????

Just a 20-minute drive from the park is another must-see spot…Hyotan Sakura Park! Here, you will find a 500-year-old (!) hyotan (gourd-shaped) cherry tree, which has been designated a Natural Monument by Kochi Prefecture????

Have a picnic, take a deep breath, and savor the spring????
