There are numerous cherry blossom-viewing spots in Kochi Prefecture, including Kochi Castle, situated in the central part of Kochi City, and Kagamino Park, which was once selected as one of Japan’s 100 best cherry blossom-viewing places. Cherry blossoms bloom earlier in Kochi Prefecture than anywhere else in Japan, except in Okinawa, and are in full bloom from late March to early April. Cherry festivals are held in many of these spots under cherry trees filled with pink flowers. You can also admire cherry blossoms lit up with “bonbori” paper lanterns at night.
